PRODUCT

We offer a range of fibers in our rugs.
We use natural fibers, including wool, jute, cotton, and hemp. Select rugs are made from a blend of wool and viscose, which is a man-made fiber derived from wood pulp, to make the product lighter and silkier. All non-toxic and biodegradable.
Our outdoor rugs are made from P.E.T which is a man-made fiber made from sustainable yarn that is spun from recycled plastics, which helps keep bottles and other waste out of our oceans and landfills.

We offer a variety of material in our pillows, specific details can be found on every product page.

-
A lot. Our rugs are exclusively designed by us and we only make handmade products for your home.
There is no mechanical assistance used during the weaving process of our products.
Machine-made rugs are most likely made from plastic fibers which emit VOCs into your home. Ekk! The pattern is applied by using heat compress which is toxic both for the factory workers and the environment.
-
Loomy rugs are durable but as with all rugs they will require maintenance to keep them looking and feeling good. You can expect a handmade rug to last for at least 5-10 years, provided it is well taken care of and used in a residential space.
-
As a general rule, bigger is better – nothing is worse than an undersized rug, in our opinion. Please reference our size guide when measuring and deciding the placement of your rug.
Handmade rugs have an industry standard allowance of +/- 3 inches for finished rug measurements.
-
No, we do not recommend our rugs for stairway runners due to the handmade nature of our rugs.
-
Our rug pads are cut approximately 2″ smaller than the size of your rug on all sides. Be sure to clean the floor where the rug will lay so that it is free of dust, wax and grease. Once your floor is totally dry, place the rug pad on the floor and carefully roll the rug out into position.
-
Fringe is not included in the rug measurement shown on our product listing, it is always in addition to the published size. Please add an additional 2-3 inches on each end of tassel/fringe length.
-
We only work with performance technologies that are free of potentially harmful chemicals like VOCs, formaldehyde, phthalates and flame retardants.

It depends on the specific pattern. If it is a repeating pattern then no, but if it's not repeating the scale will change depending on the rug size.
All our rugs are photographed in 5' x 8' or 8' x 10' for reference.

CARE
-
To ensure the longevity of your Loomy rug, please vacuum regularly, at least once a week. We do not recommend using a rotating bar vacuum and to always use the lowest power setting.
Shedding of loose fibers will occur with a brand new rug and will subside over time.
Blot stains as soon as possible. To clean, use a mild soap mixed with equal parts white vinegar and water. Test in a small area before.Always seek out professional advise for larger, tougher stains.
-
Always attend to the spill or stain as quickly as possible to minimize the risk of permanent damage.
For liquid spills, place a white cloth or paper towel over the spill and apply reasonable pressure to draw up as much liquid as possible. If the stain is still apparent, you will need to repeat the process and, if necessary, moisten with water or a solution of mild detergent. Ensure you remove all traces of the detergent by diluting the stained area with minimal water and then draw as much of the liquid up as possible again. You can cover it with a cloth and weigh down the area for a few hours. Never saturate or vigorously rub the stain.
For solids, first remove them with a spoon, knife or brush taking care not to brush too harshly. Moisten the affected area with a diluted wool wash or mild detergent and soak up as much liquid with a white cloth as possible. Never mix different cleaning solutions. Cleaning chemicals can react unpredictably with each other, and it is best to consult a professional when you are unsure of the outcome.

Natural fibers will be affected in some way by the sun. There is no hard and fast rule – the amount of sun and its intensity are the most obvious factors to consider. Colors may fade and some natural fibers may even darken when exposed to direct sunlight. We recommend rotating your rugs every 6-9 months.
-
A rug pad goes beneath your rug or runner to prevent damage, slipping, extra comfort, and helps extend the life of your rug. It is highly recommended for all rugs.
Our rug pads are made from 100% recycled material and natural rubber. These can be purchased pre-cut to our standard sized rugs here.
-
We call this sprouting and it's totally normal for natural rugs. This is a natural process that occurs when rugs are handmade. Some of the loops will sprout occasionally, so simply trim the loose ends with a pair of sharp scissors, do not pull it. This may be required every couple of weeks for the first few months, but as time goes on, the rug will settle and sprouting will naturally dissipate.
-
Yes, heavy furniture will flatten a rug’s pile. Use furniture caps and rotate your rug regularly to minimize indentation.
-
Shedding and pilling usually occur in new rugs and will settle down over time.
This is the excess wool fibers that have not been removed completely after carving/washing. It is characteristic of a handmade rug. We recommend that you vacuum daily for the first week and then weekly thereafter. Shedding can occur 3 months or longer.
